I intend on purchasing the Celestron AVX mount with the Astromaster 130. It features fully-coated glass optics, a sturdy and lightweight frame, two eyepieces, a StarPointer red dot finderscope and an adjustable tripod. Celestron SKY PRODIGY 130 Celestron AstroMaster 130EQ-MD Celestron AstroMaster 130EQ 31045 No thanks! The supplied eyepieces of Celestron Astromaster 130 EQ Nothing can be made perfect, so it is with the Astromaster 130. The Celestron Astromaster 130 EQ telesscope already has a (bad) finder mounted to it -- I took it off and designed a bracket for the Star Pointer that fits the original mounting holes. The tripod could have been stronger and sturdier, every time you rotate the knobs it shakes for about 3-4 seconds before stabilizing which gives eye strain . Conclusion, this is a wonderful scope and mount for viewing the heavens, not for astrophotography. The Celestron Astromaster Telescope has a sturdy pre-assembled tripod with manual motion controls for smooth operations. Another great feature of this telescope is the Sky Level 1 Planetarium Software CD-ROM that is packed with information and visuals about 10,000 astronomical objects. Jupiter, moon, viewing Orion Nebula, it's wonderful. It is a much more accurate mount. Visually. The sleek, compact design with Celestron’s German equatorial mounting system makes it easy to carry along and view movable objects in the sky. POWERFUL REFLECTOR TELESCOPE: The Celestron AstroMaster 76EQ Newtonian telescope is a powerful and user-friendly reflector telescope. This makes it easy to track and control the telescope. Hi,My father recently passed away and he left behind a Celestron AstroMaster 130.The tripod stand is broken in the middle, the part that joins the 3 legs. Its seems to have all the parts. Is this a good model?Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but not sure where else.ThanksRezarf Even though Celestron Astromaster 130EQ drew rave reviews from its users for its marvelous optics, many were left disappointed by the telescope mount and the tripod. The official Celestron Star Pointer Finderscope page suggests mounting it to your telescope using foam tape. this is an awesome scope. The accompanying tripod is very light.
